How do I make good steak tips without an outdoor grill?

I live in an apartment with no patio. I only have my stove, broiler, and George Foreman grille. I love steak tips, but I can’t figure how to get them just right without an outdoor grille.Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Use a black iron skillet on your largest, hottest burner… get it screaming hot, add a bit of coil, then slap your seasoned meat into the pan and let sit, 3-4 min for steak, probably shorter for steak tips. Flip, let cook 3-4 min again (and if steak tips, cook all sides). Remove from pan and serve… you can make a nice pan sauce by adding a splash of red wine and beef stick to deglaze the pan, reduce volume by half by boiling, then pour that over steak tips/steak.

Outdoor grilles: What is preferable, Stainless Steel Grilling surface or Ceramic/Porcelin?

    Beef Tips

2 lbs cubed beef stew meat
    1 onion, chopped
    1 package brown gravy mix
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
    2 cups water
    3 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 teaspoon garlic
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon ground pepper
    1 cup water

In a large skillet, heat oil over high heat.
    Saute the onion until translucent.
Add stew meat and cook on high heat until meat is browned on all sides (3-5 minutes). Pour 2 cups water, soy sauce, and worcestershire sauce into the skillet.
Stir in garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Bring to boil and reduce heat.
Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Then combine the gravy mix with 1 cup of water, mix thoroughly and stir into the meat. Bring to boil, stirring frequently until it slightly thickens.
    Serve over egg noodles.

Heat a heavy thick pan over the stove until almost smoking. Carefully place on the pan the steak tips that have been seasoned and brushed with olive oil.

You should be cooking with a hood or beside an open window, as this manner of cooking blackened steak produces a lot of smoke. It could set off your apartment’s smoke alarm.
